Respawn Entertainment - Competition time!

This isn't technically New News - But it's kind of News based on something reasonably recent, the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, and thinking what the new year brings!

It's been featured here a couple of times as you may have seen; we've reviewed it and analysed it a bit, and even poked it with a stick to see how it would react (Not well...). The reception it's received has been very very positive. It's the Best Selling Game of All Time! Not bad for a game that hasn't been created by it's original "Digital fathers"

I guess you know the story. But if you don't, here's a cut down version.
Infinity Ward and Activision (Their publisher) fell out. Top guys got fired. About 50% of the Infinity Ward team left with the original founders and founded a new developer company called Respawn Studios, and have signed a contract with EA for their software. Interesting no?

Well yes really. These dismissed employees created the most famous game series on earth! Now they've reformed, and Respawned (Clever name eh?) and they've already got a contract with EA. Now, nothing's been confirmed on what they're working on, when it will be out or anything, but whatever they announce as their first title will certainly shake things up over at Call of Duty Headquarters I bet. The success of Call of Duty: Black Ops must send repercussions among Zampella and West's team, something to aim for, to exceed and show what they're really made of!

Even though I've no idea of what they're going to make, or when it's going to come out, I'm very interested in how current Call of Duty titles will effect what they're making. I'm pretty sure at some point in the future, who knows when, but that we'll be blown away by what we see these guys release. They have the skills, the knowledge and the success, and now they've got a little bit of ground to fight back for!

We'll keep you posted as and when anything happens, their website certainly isn't giving us any clues though!

Hopefully we'll hear something new in 2011!
